Howard A. Speed, 61, passed away on July 12 at Steward Holy Family Hospital in Methuen with his loving family by his side.
Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Alden and Charlotte L. (Peavey) Speed. Raised and educated in Haverhill, Speed attended Haverhill Public Schools. He was employed for various manufacturing firms in the Merrimack Valley area. An animal lover, Speed had several snakes including pythons and many other exotic pets. He was his own man throughout his life with a great sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Speed is survived by his brother Faris D. Blancher and his wife Theresa A. of Haverhill, nephews Howard Dolan of Kingston, N.H., and William Dolan of Lee, N.H., his special friend and caretaker Kathleen A. Szpyt and her partner Daniel Anzaldi. He was predeceased by his sister Leslie A. Weiskopf.
