Elaine Marie (Cunningham) DeCaires, 89, of Haverhill, died Friday, July 13, at Port Healthcare, Newburyport.
She was born in Haverhill on Sept. 21, 1928, the daughter of the late John H. and Leona (Hastie) Cunningham.
Educated in the Haverhill school system, DeCaires graduated from Haverhill High School with the class of 1946.
She was employed for a period of time at the former Bradford Pharmacy and American Optical Co. She retired from the North Andover Senior Citizens Center where she was a volunteer coordinator.
DeCaires was a member of Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford and the Haverhill Art Association.
She was the wife of the late Julio DeCaires who died in 1991, mother of the late Lucia A. O’Donnell who died in 2016 and sister of the late Anna Smith.
Her survivors include a daughter, Cheryl E. Jewett and her husband Philip L. of East Hampstead, N.H., four grandchildren Derek Quintal, Dustin Fontaine, Julie Parino and Brian O’Donnell Jr., and three great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Wednesday, July 18 from 9:30-11 a.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:15 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Fidelis Hospice, 25 Railroad Square, Haverhill, MA 01830.
