Eileen (Coyle) Varrese, 72, Haverhill Teacher, Coordinator of Special Needs Services

Eileen (Coyle) Varrese, 72, of Bradford, passed away peacefully on July 11 in Haverhill surrounded by family and friends.

She was born in Lawrence on May 1, 1946, the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Mary (O’Connor) Coyle. The sister of the late Mary J. Frederick of North Carolina, Varrese earned her bachelor of education from Plymouth State College (University) and her master’s in education from Salem State College (University) in guidance and counseling. For 38 years, she was employed by the Haverhill Public Schools as a teacher, counselor and coordinator of special needs services.

Varrese had a strong faith and was a former member of St. Patrick Church in Lawrence, Sacred Hearts Church in Haverhill and St. John of the Cross in Vero Beach, Fla., where she volunteered and enjoyed working in their thrift shop.

She was married to the late Leo Varrese, owner of the Lafayette Fruit in Haverhill. Over the past 15 years, she enjoyed a close personal relationship with Richard (Dick) LaBelle of Haverhill. During the years they traveled the world and divided their time between Newfound Lake and Seabrook Beach during the summer and their winter home in Vero Beach, Fla. They enjoyed attending plays and concerts wherever they were dinning with friends. She will be greatly missed.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 15, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 South Main St., Haverhill from 4-7 p.m. Services will begin Monday in the funeral home at 9 a.m. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Haverhill’s Sacred Hearts Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
