Richard R. Theberge, 77, Former Haverhill Auxiliary Police Officer

Richard R. Theberge, 77, of Fitchburg and a former Haverhill auxiliary police officer, passed away at High Pointe Hospice House, Haverhill, July 8, with his family by his side.

Born in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Leo J. and Muriel (Covey) Theberge. Raised and educated in Lawrence, he was a graduate of Lawrence High School, class of 1958. Besides serving as a Haverhill auxiliary police officer,Theberge was employed in Missouri as a prison guard. He was a steeple jack painter and worked for Ray Houle and Son Painters. He also owned many sports memorabilia stores, Jams Sports and S&D Sports. Theberge loved oldies music and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

He is survived by his children, Sherry A. Twomey and Brian P. Forest of North Andover, Darlene M. Lilly and her husband John M. of Salem, N.H., Melissa E. Santos and her husband William J. of Derry, N.H., and Angela L. Stanley of Fitchburg; brothers Daniel Theberge and his wife Charlene of Caklifornia and Robert Theberge and his wife Mary Ellen of Fitchburg; sisters Joan Van Coppenolle of Haverhill and Colleen Brandolini of Georgia; grandchildren David Twomey, Payton Lilly, Juliesa Santiago, Dante Santiago, Xavier Lugo, Marcos Centeno, Cornelius Stanley, Michelle Stanley, Joseph Stanley, Chanel Stanley; great grandchild Ezrah Herpin-Santiago; former partner Donna Stuck of Haverhill; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Bernadette, Albert, Charles and Patrick Theberge and Dorothy Murphy and Muriel Smith.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours Thursday, July 12 from 5 to 7 p.m., at Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Burial is private.
