Builders will petition Haverhill’s Planning Board this week in a public hearing that discusses the potential construction of 19 single family homes on the city’s Gile and Crosby Streets.

Held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Room 202 of Haverhill City Hall, the hearing comes three weeks after the City Council vetoed a plan for a 55+ senior housing community on East Broadway.

At the time, residents including farm owner Don Cox urged the city to be strategic in the development projects they pursue.

“I am not opposed to developments, but I am against an out-of-town developer rewriting our zoning for their benefit, Cox said during the meeting. “Once land is developed, it doesn’t go the other way.”

Other municipal meetings held this week include:

Tuesday, July 10 – Haverhill Retirement Board, 9 a.m. in Room 303 of City Hall
Tuesday, July 10 – Haverhill Board of Accessors, 9 a.m. in Room 115 of City Hall
