Methuen’s July Fourth celebration kicks off with an evening of family friendly fun at The Loop Tuesday from 7-10 p.m.

Face painting, photo ops with superhero characters, music and free food are available at 90 Pleasant Valley St., before the sky lights up at dusk.

The best viewing location for fireworks is the parking lot between TGI Friday’s restaurant and Aspen Dental. Residents are invited to bring chairs and blankets.

In the event of rain, the fireworks move to Thursday, July 5.
