Body of Missing Haverhill Man Groves Pulled from Merrimack River

Haverhill Police recovered the body of missing Haverhill man Richard Groves from the Merrimack River late Tuesday, authorities said.

The body was discovered near 60 Railroad St., at 6:49 p.m., according to Detective Commander Capt. Stephen Doherty.

Groves, who was declared missing earlier that day, suffered with Alzheimer’s disease. He was last seen around 11 p.m. on South Summer Street in Bradford on Monday and reported missing by family members at 8:20 a.m. the next day.

The state medical examiner’s office is investigating the cause of death, Doherty said.
