Barbara E. (McCarthy) McInnes, 87, wife of the late William H. McInnes, passed away June 22 at Hannah Duston Healthcare in Haverhill with her loving family by her side.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Martha (Farrar) McCarthy. She was raised by her grandparents in Danvers and lived in Beverly before moving to Groveland. McInnes was employed as a tester for over 20 years at the former Western Electric and AT&T. She was a faithful woman who was a counselor at Baldpate Hospital in Georgetown. She attended Sarah’s Place in Haverhill daily for the last seven years. She was a gifted artist, who painted and wrote poetry. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be remembered for her easy going way and her love for her family.
McInnes is survived by her children, William McInnes and his wife Anne of Limerick, Maine, Robert McInnes and his wife Stacey of Ft. Payne, Ala., Barry McInnes and his wife Diane of Dracut, James McInnes of Groveland, Peter McInnes of Florida, Judith Legacy and Hiram Bickford of Haverhill, Andrew McInnes and his wife Judi of Derry, N.H., brother Kenneth McCarthy of San Jose, Calif., daughter-in-law Cathy A. McInnes of Haverhill and daughter-in-law Judy Fogarty of Barrington, N.H., sister-in-laws Donna McCarthy of Arizona and Nancy McCarthy of Danvers, 41 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her children, Bruce McInnes, Sandra McInnes, Jon McInnes, grandson Scott Swiniarski and brothers, Joseph McCarthy, David McCarthy and Brian McCarthy.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Groveland Congregational Church, 4 King St., Groveland. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Main Street, Groveland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Sarah’s Place, 180 Water St., Haverhill, MA 01830.
