School’s almost out for summer, but reading is a must all year long! The Haverhill Public Library and the YMCA are planning two separate free events on Saturday, June 23 to encourage kids to read while they’re on break.

At the library on 99 Main St., a summer reading kickoff bash runs from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Readers of all ages (including adults!) are invited to register to read books and win prizes. Everyone who signs up will receive a free book. Food, face painting and a petting zoo are also planned.

The Winter Street YMCA’s “School’s Out” soiree is from 1-3 p.m. and includes family-friendly activities like a gymnastics obstacle course, a poolside movie with snacks and a trivia contest.

Haverhill Public Schools finish the 2018 school year on Friday, June 22.
