As September’s congressional primary inches closer, Sen. Barbara L’Italien is making her platform known across the Merrimack Valley. On Saturday, L’Italien was joined by supporters, including state progressive leader Paul Feeney, for a rally at Bradford Common before heading out to knock on doors.

Joining Feeney to support L’Italien were dozens of volunteers and members of IBEW, the nation’s largest labor union of electrical workers. In a crowded democratic field, Feeney urged volunteers to tell voters how L’Italien will “make a difference for generations to come in this country.”

If L’Italien is elected to succeed Congresswoman Niki Tsongas in the 3rd District, Feeney said, she “isn’t just going to talk, but she’s going to act (and) she’s going to fight.”

L’Italien is grateful to have the support of blue-collar workers like those who assembled in Haverhill.

“Working people deserve to feel like their elected representatives have their back,” said L’Italien, who shared that her autistic son was her motivation to look out for “vulnerable” people across the Commonwealth.

“Whether it’s to improve the environment for your young kids, secure a life of dignity for your parents, or ensure not one more life is lost to gun violence, this campaign is about you,” summed up the senator. “This fight is your fight.”

L’Italien is one of nearly a dozen democrats appearing on this fall’s congressional ballot in the primary election that takes place September 4.
