It’s a burger bonanza in Haverhill! Seven local eateries plan to create custom burger dishes for next week’s “Merrimack Valley Eats Burger Spotlight Week,” including downtown’s Hidden Pig and the Copperhead Saloon in Lafayette Square.

Created by Haverhill food blogger Gerald Schiavoni, the week highlights specially made burgers in an effort to spotlight new eateries and old favorites alike.

IT consultant Schiavoni was inspired to launch the week of good eats after his homegrown Facebook group, also called “Merrimack Valley Eats,” ballooned from 200 members to 6,200 in six months.

Zeroing in on burgers for his first local spotlight week, Schiavoni also approached Haverhill’s Mr. Mike’s (1149 Main St.), STUFT (150 Washington St.) and The Grill Next Door (653 Broadway), along with Your Place and Ours in Groveland and Fuego in Methuen.

Burger selections will be unveiled over the weekend on Facebook, Schiavoni said. Patrons eager to try the burgers are encouraged to ask for the “Burger Spotlight Week” promotion from June 18-24. All burgers are $12.

Later this summer, Haverhill plans to host the city’s first-ever Restaurant Week from Aug. 17-26.
