Saluting Scully! Ahead of Monday’s retirement party for outgoing city education chief James F. Scully, Mayor James J. Fiorentini has pronounced June 11, 2018 to be “Superintendent James F. Scully Day” in the City of Haverhill.

In honor of his eight years of service to the Haverhill Public Schools system, Fiorentini issued a proclamation read by Councilor Colin F. LePage at this week’s City Council meeting.

Fiorentini recognized Scully’s 48 years as an educator and praised his efforts to serve and care for Haverhill schoolchildren “with kindness and dedication,” LePage said.

“Superintendent of Haverhill Public Schools James F. Fiorentini, Mayor of the City of Haverhill, Massachusetts, do hereby declare Monday, June 11 Superintendent James F. Scully Day,” LePage recounted.

Members of the community plan to celebrate Scully Monday night at a retirement party at Bradford Country Club that starts at 6 p.m.
