Dan Koh continues to rack up local endorsements in his first-ever bid for Congress. On Wednesday, former Haverhill city councilor and state representative Frank Emilio offered his support to Koh in Koh’s quest to represent Haverhill residents in as a legislator in the 3rd District.
“Now more than ever, we need people like Dan fighting for us in Congress,” Emilio said. “After meeting Dan, I knew that he was the right candidate for the job. Dan is focused on creating jobs and bringing economic development to Haverhill and cities across the 3rd District. He’s got great ideas, and he’ll bring a fresh perspective to D.C.”
An insurance broker who served as a member of the House of Representatives from 1981-1991, Emilio was succeeded by Brian S. Dempsey, who went on to become chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.
Democrat Koh is running for the 3rd District seat made available by Congresswoman Niki Tsongas, who plans to retire from the House in January. He faces local opposition in the September primary from Haverhill natives Alexandra Chandler and Juana Matias, among others.
