Evelyn A. (Desmarais) Bergeron, 97, Former Ride Operator at Canobie Lake

Evelyn A. (Desmarais) Bergeron, 97, a resident of Windham, N.H., and formerly of Bates Road in Haverhill, died on June 6 at the Windham Terrace Nursing Home in Windham, N.H.

Born in Manchester, N.H., Bergeron was the daughter of the late Odilon and Eva (Desrosiers) Desmarais. She was raised and educated in Lowell. She was employed as a Seamstress for Haverhill’s Samuel Roberts Clothing and also worked for the Gillette Company, as a Walmart greeter and amusement operator at Canobie Lake Park and Salisbury Beach.

A member of All Saints Parish in Haverhill, Bergeron enjoyed dancing with her late husband, taking walks, dining out and watching classic movies and ice skating. She also enjoyed camping at Old Orchard Beach for many years.

The widow of the late Albert E. Bergeron who died in 2000, she is survived by a son, Leonard G. Bergeron and his wife Trudy of Sharon, S.C., twin daughters Paulette Bergeron of Amesbury and Pauline Bergeron of Haverhill, six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Edward J. Bergeron in 1960.

Relatives and friends may attend her Life Celebration on Friday, June 8 from 6 -8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral will begin on Saturday, June 9 at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10 a.m. at All Saints Church, Haverhill. Burial will take place in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill.
