Flora I. (Grassi) Thomas, 93, Retired Office Worker

Flora I. (Grassi) Thomas, 93, of Haverhill and formerly of Bradford, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Sunday, June 3, at her residence.
She was born in Haverhill on Jan. 18, 1925 the daughter of the late Generoso and Onorina (Moro) Grassi.

Thomas was educated in the Haverhill school system and graduated from Haverhill High School with the class of 1943. She furthered her education and earned degrees from Northern Essex Community College and MacIntosh Business School. She also studied pharmacy science at the School of Pharmacy in Andover.

She was employed as an office worker at Hudson Machine and Merrimack Industrial Finishes from where she retired in 1990.

Thomas was a member of the Haverhill Women’s Club and volunteered at the Merrimack Valley Hospital and the Haverhill Public Library. She was a former member of the Garden Club.

Thomas was predeceased by her siblings, Maldina Kelly, Gilda Grassi, Vincent, and Sebastian Grassi

She is survived by her loving husband, Salem Thomas of Haverhill, a son, John M. and his wife Jamie Thomas of Bradford, three grandchildren, Michael Thomas, Meredith Thomas and Jason and his wife Gretchen Thomas, a great-grandson, Jadon Thomas, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Wednesday, June 6 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the H.L. Farmer and Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St., Bradford. Her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel at Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St., Bradford. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
