With less than 100 days to go until the congressional primary, freshman candidate Lori Trahan has former Methuen Mayor Sharon Pollard in her corner.

The city’s first female mayor plans to formally endorse Trahan at a meet and greet event Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Merrimack Valley Country Club. The event is free and open to all.

“We need more women in Congress and Lori is the right person at the right time for the job,” Pollard said in a statement ahead of Wednesday night’s formal endorsement. “Lori has broken down many barriers for women in the business world and will do the same on Capitol Hill for women across the country.”

Pollard’s praise follows that of former Methuen Mayor Stephen Zanni, City Councilor-at-Large Ryan Hamilton and former state Rep. Thomas Lussier, in addition to the Methuen Firefighters Local union 1691.

Democrat Trahan, a Lowell native, is grateful for the Merrimack Valley’s support.

“I look forward to working hard for the families that call Methuen home and I am so thankful for the support my campaign has received here,” Trahan said.
