Vera (Saldi) Turcotte, 95, Formerly Employed in Local Shoe Industry

Vera (Saldi) Turcotte, 95, of Haverhill, died on May 18 at her home.

Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of Salvatore and Santa (Tarallo) Saldi. Raised and educated in Dracut, Turcotte moved to Haverhill as a young woman. She first worked in the local shoe industry and later as a retail sales supervisor for local department stores.

A member of Haverhill’s All Saints Church, she was an avid reader who enjoyed cooking and assembling jigsaw puzzles. She had a passion for studying and protecting any wildlife that came into her yard.

The widow of Donat L. Turcotte who died in 2010, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Pamela Turcotte of Dover Foxcroft, Maine, three daughters and son-in-law, Donna McNeil of Haverhill, Rose and Robert Maloof of Cape Coral, Fla., and Gloria Mack of Haverhill, four brothers, Joseph Saldi of Haverhill, Samuel Saldi of Groveland, Jack Saldi of Hampton Beach, N.H., and Ronald Saldi of Seabrook, N.H., eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Rose Raneri.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, May 24 from noon to 1 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home followed by burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Haverhill.
