Northern Essex Community College’s baseball Knights secured a trip to the Junior College World Series following a come from behind 7-5 victory over New York’s Suffolk Community College Saturday at Haverhill’s Trinity Stadium.
Clinching the District F Super Regional title and a World Series berth, the Knights trailed 5-2 at the top of the eighth inning before rallying to score five runs later in the inning. Knights sophomore pitcher Corey Imbriano struck out the final hitter in the ninth inning to secure the team’s trip to the World Series.
The Knights head to Greeneville, Tenn., later this week to prep for their first World Series game on May 26 at Pioneer Park.
