City man Joshua Smith, of 22 Porter St., was arrested Friday on a federal warrant by Haverhill Police Officer Bryan Bailey and must now answer to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Smith was taken into custody on 4th Avenue May 11 just after 8:30 p.m. on a warrant-related charge of conspiracy to violate drug laws. A warrant for his arrest was issued April 11 by DEA authorities in Manchester, N.H., according to Haverhill Police Captain Stephen Doherty.

This is Smith’s second interaction with Haverhill Police in recent months. In October 2017, he was arrested on firearms and drug charges after police say he arranged to sell fentanyl near Haverhill’s Millvale Reservoir and Winnekenni Park areas.

Smith listed an address in Plaistow, N.H. during his fall arrest alongside Jordan Polizzotti for fentanyl trafficking, possession of a large-capacity firearm and resisting arrest.
