Time to batter up at Northern Essex! Haverhill’s community college plays host to the Region XXI baseball tournament this weekend, with the Knights having home field advantage for the first time since 2016.

Played in a four-team double elimination format, the tourney features the top-seeded Knights, Massasoit Community College, Quinsigamond College and Holyoke Community College. The Knights go into the game play with a record of 21-13.

Following the outcome of games played Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the winner of the regional tournament will host the winner of the Region XV tournament May 18-20 in a best two out of three series. That winner advances to the National Junior College Athletic Association World Series later this month in Tennessee.

This weekend’s games are free and open to all.
