William R. Racine, 81, Korean War Veteran

William R. Racine, 81, a longtime resident of Haverhill, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 5 at his home in Woodstock, Ga. He was the devoted husband of the late Sharon (O’Brien) Racine. Born in Haverhill on Oct. 18, 1936, he was the son of the late George C. and Eva V. (Pelletier) Racine. Rancine grew up in Haverhill having attended local schools.

Rancine honorably served in the United States Navy and is a veteran of the Korean War. He was a successful and highly skilled carpenter and construction foreman. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War in Alpharetta, Ga., and a member of the AMVETS in Haverhill. He was a history buff and skilled handyman who also loved animals and enjoyed New England sports. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Rancine is survived by his four loving children Patricia Hunt and husband John of Cody, Wy., William Racine, Jr. of Canton, Ga., Paula Mares and husband Omar of Savannah, Ga., and Robert Racine of Canton, Ga. He is also leaves behind two grandchildren, Emily and Ethan, brother, George Racine, Jr and sister Helen Miner.

Calling hours will be held Friday, May 11 from 5-8 p.m. at The Grondin-Carnevale Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave. Haverhill. A funeral mass to celebrate his life will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. from Saint James Parish, 85 Winter St, Haverhill. Burial will be at St. James Cemetery.
