Construction on Route 28 in Andover will begin on Wednesday, May 9 and continue through the middle of July, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

Work will take place during the overnight hours of 8 p.m. through 5 a.m. between Interstate 495 and Route 133.

The work may require lane closures and short term temporary closures of the I-495 on and off ramps, during which times detours will be implemented.

The updates will include milling and paving, drainage repairs and installing pavement markings, new sidewalks, wheelchair ramps and curbing.

Drivers in this area should use extra caution and expect delays. Work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice, says the Mass. DOT.

As always, travelers are encouraged to call 511 or visit for real-time road conditions or incident advisories.
