Alice L. McDermott, 94, Worked at Groveland Town Hall

Alice L. McDermott, 94, of Haverhill passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, May 4.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1924 in Kittery, Maine, the daughter of the late Arthur and Lucy (Gallant) Hodsdon.

McDermott was educated in the Haverhill school system and attended Haverhill High School. For many years she was employed as an office worker at Groveland Town Hall.

She was an active member of Cedardale and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

McDermott was predeceased by her loving husband, George McDermott, who passed away in 2006 and a sister Arleen Nagle.

She is survived by her two sons, Michael and his wife Kelly McDermott of Groveland and John and his wife Kelsa McDermott of Amesbury, four grandchildren Krystle McDermott of Chelmsford, Madelyn, Lindsey and Ashlyn McDermott, all of Groveland as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Thursday, May 10 from 10-11 a.m. at the H.L. Farmer and Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St., Bradford. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
