Brightside Honors City Beautification ‘Heroes’

Haverhill’s Brightside recently honored its 2018 “Heroes” at a ceremony in downtown Haverhill.

The program took place Thursday, April 5, at Maria’s Galleria Banquet Room, and featured Christine MacMillan, owner of Haverhill’s Cottage Gardens Nursery, who spoke of “The Art of Container Gardening.” Other addresses were by Christine Rau, Brightside executive director, and Mayor James J. Fiorentini, who presented awards.

Adopt-A-Planter sponsors recognized were Vincent Kissel, Summer Street Dental, Linwood Cemetery, Cindy Nails, BMMB, Dr. Joseph Cardarelli Jr., Haverhill Lions Club, Haverhill Country Club, Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce, Maria’s Restaurant, Kenneth Quimby, Pentucket Bank, Justine Maguire Properties and Bradford Country Club.

Adopt-A-Park sponsors honored were Carl Bletzer/Bletzer Realty and Paige O’Connell.

The Community Heroes Award was given to the Tenney Family Association for its preservation of the Old Bradford Burial Ground.

Brightside, founded by Elaine Barker, is a nonprofit corporation operating in partnership with the city.
