Local Spanish teacher Rachel Hyland finished fourth in the women’s division of Monday’s Boston Marathon, but the Andover resident didn’t have too much time to rest and recharge. In fact, Hyland planned to be back at work Tuesday at Phillips Academy, since the private school isn’t on school vacation this week.

A member of the Boston Athletic Association running team, 31-year-old Hyland ran her ninth marathon on Monday. It was her second appearance in Boston, coming six years after she finished 48th in her 2012 Boston debut.

Hyland finished Monday’s marathon with a time of 2 hours, 44 minutes and 29 seconds—no small feat given the downpours and less than ideal Patriot’s Day temperatures.

Michigan’s Desiree Linden, a two-time Olympian, made history as the first woman to win the Boston Marathon since 1985, finishing with a time of 2 hours, 39 minutes and 54 seconds.

Japan’s Yuki Kawauchi swept the men’s category Monday, crossing the finish line in 2 hours, 15 minutes and 58 seconds.
