Michael J. Duval, 50, Chef at The Tap, Roma

Michael J. Duval, 50, passed away on April 7 at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late James J. Duval Sr. and Edna M. (Hutchings) Duval. Raised and educated in Haverhill, Duval was a graduate of Haverhill High School’s class of 1985.

He earned his culinary arts degree from Essex Agricultural School and was employed as an executive chef and manager for many years at Sodexo in Andover and many other venues in the Merrimack Valley area, including the Roma, The Tap and many others. He was always the cook for many celebrations and weddings for family and friends. A sweet, caring man who loved his dog Odie, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Duval is survived by his fiancee Pamela Davidson and her daughter Caroline M. Lucet, his son, Sean M. Duval of Kingston, N.H., sister, Lisa M. Duval and David Mekalian of Salisbury, brothers, James J. Duval Jr. and Tina Marie of Kingston, N.H., Matthew J. Duval and his husband Malcolm Hunter of Provincetown, niece and nephews, Richard J. Poor, Amanda M. Duval and James H. Duval.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, April 16 from 4-7 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill.
