Joan E. (Champion) Currier, 75, Retired Haverhill School Department Secretary

Joan E. (Champion) Currier, 75, of Bradford, died Friday, April 6.

She was born in Lawrence on May 2, 1942, the daughter of the late Howard M.G. and Blanche E. (Farnsworth) Champion.

Educated in the Haverhill school system, Currier graduated from Haverhill High School.

For over 35 years she was employed as a secretary in the Haverhill School Department from where she retired.

A 50-year member and Past Worthy Matron of Order of The Eastern Star, Fidelity Chapter No. 90, Currier enjoyed knitting and playing bingo.

Her survivors include her husband of 56 years, James H.R. Currier of Bradford, a son, James “Scott” Currier of Bradford, a sister, Caroljean “CJ” Parker of Methuen, three grandchildren, Christian Currier and his wife Katelyn, Michael Currier and his fiancé Ronalee Gardner, Harley Boisselle and her husband Christopher, a great grandson, Christian “CJ” Currier and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Celebration of Life on Wednesday, April 18 at 6 p.m. in Granite United Church, 1 Sand Hill Road, Salem, N.H. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill & Bradford. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
