NECC Baseball Celebrates Win Over Southern Maine Ahead of Home Opener

Northern Essex Community College’s Knights baseball team triumphed 9-3 over Southern Maine Community College Tuesday, assisted by pitchers Ryan Sharkey and Justin Kerhulas.

Salisbury’s Sharkey pitched seven innings, allowing six hits and one unearned run. He struck out four batters. North Reading-based Kerhulas was on the mound for the final two innings, striking out three players from Southern Maine.

Tuesday’s win was the fifth in a row for the Knights, with Riley Magee, Leo Romero and Andrew Caulfield delivering multi-hit games.

The Knights play their season home opener Thursday on the Haverhill campus, 100 Elliott St., against Bunker Hill Community College. First pitch is at 3:30 p.m.
