Michael D. Sughrue, 60, Haverhill Youth Sports Coach

Michael Donald Sughrue, 60, passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 8.

He was born in Boston on June 21, 1957. The son of the late Donald Francis and Alice Mae Sughrue, he graduated from Wilmington High School in 1975 and was a member of the Teamster Local for 30 years.

Sughrue was the loving husband of Ginger Sughrue, married for 38 years. They were married in Wilmington on January 19, 1980.

Sughrue made a big impact in his community through coaching youth sports throughout his children’s lives. He was a father figure to many. In recent years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.

His surviving family members, in addition to his wife Ginger, include his sons Sean Sughrue and wife Annette and their children Shane, Rhian and Peyton Sughrue and Michael Sughrue, Jr. and wife Kara and their children Joe and Brynn Sughrue, his daughter Shannon Sughrue, and sisters Deidre McLennan and Karen Browning. He was predeceased by his son Dennis Michael Sughrue, brother Daniel John Sughrue and brother in-law Ronald F. McLennan.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, April 12 in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 South Main St., Haverhill from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will begin Friday in the funeral home at 9 a.m. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St., Haverhill at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
