Fiorentini Reaches Agreement with Firefighters, Now Council Votes

At the city council meeting tonight, April 10, councilors will be asked to vote on a new agreement between the city and the Haverhill Firefighters Local 1011-IAFF.

The agreement includes a cost of living increase of 2 percent per year, and covers the time period beginning July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2019, for a total increase of 4 percent.

The agreement also includes modest increases in hazardous duty pay and detail pay, as well as improvements in working conditions that will make the department more efficient, according to Mayor James J. Fiorentini, who negotiated the agreement.

“In contrast to past contract negotiations with firefighters, this one went quickly and smoothly.  I appreciate the firefighters working with us as well as their efforts keeping the city and our residents safe,” Fiorentini said.

The council meeting begins at 7 p.m., in the Theodore A. Pelosi Jr. City Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall. The meeting is open to the public and airs live at 97.9 WHAV FM.
