New York’s funk/rock/soul trio, The Nth Power, is returning to Salem, Mass. on Thu., April 12 to play a benefit for the North Shore YWCA Rape Crisis Center in Lynn, which covers both Essex County and Merrimack Valley with sister sites in Haverhill and Lawrence.

The group has been well-received in the area since their debut at the Contour Festival in 2015, which included a tribute set to Steely Dan. Band members say The Nth Power aims to change lives through a message of musical love and understanding.

Their lineup will include intense political energy consistent with their new video and single “Truth,” which contains blatant discontent for the current administration.

“In a system that profits off of ignorance and thrives on complacency, ‘Truth’ is a call to action–a reminder to unify and educate ourselves because preserving and strengthening humanity is our greatest responsibility,” it states on the band’s YouTube page.

The YWCA of Northeastern Massachusetts [formerly YWCA North Shore Rape Crisis Center] serves more than 15,000 people each year throughout the Merrimack Valley and Essex County. They provide services to all sexual assault survivors aged 12 and older and their non-offending family members and partners. They welcome all survivors regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, economic status, or legal status. All of their services are free and confidential.

The concert will be held at the Salem YMCA, 1 Sewall Street and will include a performance by Salem band, Qwill.

Admission is $15 per person.
