State Rep. Diana DiZoglio kicked off her campaign for state Senate Thursday night in Haverhill, picking up the endorsement of the vice president of the Haverhill City Council.

At DiBurro’s in Ward Hill, DiZoglio was introduced by City Councilor Thomas J. Sullivan, who said, “It is an honor to stand before you this evening to tell you why I am supporting Diana DiZoglio to be the next State Senator for the First Essex District.”

Sullivan said that DiZoglio is the “real deal,” that she is not afraid to shake up the status quo and challenge authority. He said, “we the voters thirst for new leaders with fresh ideas who aren’t afraid to take a stand and who can be an independent voice for the people.  We have that person right here, right now, and it is imperative that all of us spread the word that Diana DiZoglio deserves to be elected as the next state Senator for the First Essex District.”

DiZoglio is seeking to succeed First Essex District Sen. Kathleen O’Connor Ives, who is not seeking reelection to a fourth term.
