Jennie Nowicki, 100, Owned Bradford Beauty Parlor

Jennie (Sudol) Nowicki, 100, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 1, at Penacook Place with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late John Nowicki who passed away in 1998.

She was born and raised in Haverhill, daughter of Valentine and Sophia Sudol and graduated from Haverhill High School in 1936. Upon graduation, she enrolled in a cosmetology school in Boston and then shortly thereafter opened her own beauty parlor in Bradford for more than 50 years.

Mrs. Nowicki enjoyed dancing the polka and she and her husband John followed local polka bands throughout the area. She was a parishioner of Sacred Hearts Church in Bradford for many years.

Her surviving family members included her loving daughters Jane Williams and husband John and Nancy Curtin and husband John of Bradford.; cherished granddaughters Carolyn Curtin and Susan Edic; two great-grandsons Dillon and Luke Edic; sisters, Sister Mary Cyril Sudol of New Britain, Conn. and Mary Gurka of North Andover; and many nieces and nephews. Nowicki’s family would like to thank the staff of Penacook Place for the care they had given to her during her time there.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, April 5, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Bradford, from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon in Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford.

Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, No. Broadway, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to either Sacred Hearts Church, 48 So. Chestnut Street, Bradford, MA 01835 or the Penacook Place, c/o Memory Unit, 150 Water Street, Haverhill, MA 01830.
