Walter B. Gould, Jr., 72, Electrical Engineer

Walter B. Gould, Jr., 72, husband of Joyce (Cusenza) Gould, passed away March 19 at Brigham and Woman’s Hospital in Boston with his loving family by his side.

Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Walter Gould Sr. and Ella (Swanson) Gould. With his family, he moved to West Newbury, where he grew up. Gould was a graduate of Pentucket Regional High School, Newman Prep in Boston, and Wentworth Institute, graduating with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

After graduation from Wentworth, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed stock car racing, especially the modified division. In the 1970s, 80s and 90s he and his wife Joyce would visit race tracks throughout New England to watch the “Mods” race. Gould was a smart, fun loving man who enjoyed his music and movies. He was loved by everyone who knew him.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his sisters, Nancy I. Gould of Acton, Gloria Gould of Sandown, N.H., Martha Bisson and her husband Bruce of West Newbury, brother-in-law Louis Cusenza and his wife Shirley of Haverhill, several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and great nieces.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, March 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Shriner’s Hospital, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114.
