John ‘Jack’ R. Connelly, 90, WWII Navy Veteran

John “Jack” R. Connelly, 90, of Bradford, passed away on Monday, March 19 at Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley, Haverhill.

Connelly was born in Quincy on July 13, 1927. He was the son of the late James H. and Mary “Molly” (Gear) Connelly.

He attended St. Mary’s School in West Quincy, Sacred Heart School, Weymouth, and Newman Prep in Boston before graduating from Milton High School. After high school, Connelly enlisted in the Navy during WWII and served in the South Pacific and was a member of the occupation troops in China after the war. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he then attended Boston University where he studied marketing and sales.

Connelly was predeceased by his loving wife, M. Teresa (Taffe) Connelly who passed away in 2005 and his six siblings, Paul Heffernan, Virginia, James, Kevin and Joseph Connelly and Florence Healy.

He is survived by his children, Mary Frances of Charlestown, Patricia and her husband Warren Bamford of Hampton, N.H., John R. (“Jack”) Jr. and his wife Patricia Connelly of Avon, Conn., Jean and her husband Andrew Coady of Bradford, and Teresa Connelly and Adam Idris of Manhattan, N.Y. He also leaves behind his nine grandchildren, John, Daniel and Tim Bamford, John R. Connelly III, Brendan and Harrison Connelly, Madeline, Callie and Andrew Coady and three great-grandchildren, Lucas, Simon and Gloria Bamford, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Friday, March 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer and Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St., (Rt.125) Bradford. His funeral will be on Saturday morning, March 24 beginning at 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St., Bradford. Burial with military honors will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford.
