Procession for Slain Tow Truck Driver

Hundreds of first responders and service professionals are expected to participate in a funeral procession on Wednesday morning in honor of 41-year-old Dan Coady, the tow truck operator who was struck by a drunk driver while on duty earlier this month on Interstate 495 in Andover.

Calling hours will be held at Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third St., North Andover, Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. A service for friends and family will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., after which the procession will begin.

Organizers are asking that those planning to join the procession use the following instructions:

  • Trucks should report to the North Andover Mall parking lot at 350 Winthrop Ave., North Andover. The lot opens at 8 a.m. and all trucks should plan to be staged no later than 9:30.
  • Police, fire and other first responders will stage at the Relief’s In at 1 Market St., Lawrence, at 9 a.m.
  • Honor Guard units are to meet at St. Michael’s Church parking lot in the rear lot, accessed by Water St. North Andover at 8:30 a.m.

Statewide Towing Association will be accepting donations for Coady’s wife and children on Wednesday at the Market Basket staging area.
