Louise V. Emery, 98, Wedding Gown Designer

Louise V. Emery, 98, the wife of the late Charles Emery, passed away March 17 at Wingate Nursing Home in Haverhill with her loving family by her side.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Liberato and Lucia (Berardini) Grassi. Raised and educated in Haverhill, Emery was a graduate of Haverhill High School. Upon graduation, she enrolled in the Soury Sewing School in Boston and studied clothing design for two years. The school was very influential in her career as a dress designer and wedding gown designer. Emery also created the vestments for the clergy at St. John the Baptist Church in Haverhill. Her passion was sewing all things and she was very proud of her Italian heritage. She had a strong faith and was active and devoted to the church. A protective mother, her family was everything and she doted on her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Emery is survived by her children, Orrietta “Aurie” Roy and her husband Mark of Danville, N.H., Charles Emery and his wife Mary of Haverhill, sisters Natalie Grassi of Haverhill and Edith Grassi of Melrose, her grandchildren, Christopher, James, Alexander, John (J.C.) and Christa, a great-grandchild, Matthew, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Charles, she was predeceased by her brothers, Dr. Michael Grassi, Dr. James Grassi, her sisters Jacqueline Festo, Laura Grassi and Eleanor Grassi.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, March 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Services will begin Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. in the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at All Saints Church. 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, North Broadway, Haverhill.
