The first of five new eateries is getting ready to open at a new shopping center on the Haverhill/Plaistow, N.H., border.

Five Guys, a Virginia-based chain serving hot dogs, burgers and sandwiches, has nearly completed construction and secured its entertainment and food-serving licenses recently from the city’s License Commission. Janie Davis, district manager, told commissioners the store prides itself on sticking with a limited menu.

“They’re very old school. That’s why we only sell burgers, fries and shakes,” Davis said.

While Five Guys is a national chain, the new Haverhill location and 15 others is owned by franchisee Gregory Vasey of Hyde Park Burgers, Davis said. The store had been scheduled to open last week but was delayed while interior construction continues.

According to a notice on the building, Five Guys will be interviewing job applicants all day, today, at 89 Plaistow Road, Haverhill, in what will be known as “Five Corners Shopping Center.”

The $5 million complex will also eventually house Kobe Buddha House, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Aroma Joe’s and one other restaurant to be announced, said Stephen Stapinski of Merrimack Engineering, one of the developers.
