Earl Tibbetts, 83, Retired from General Electric

Earl Tibbetts, 83, of Newton, N.H., died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, March 9.

He was born in Haverhill on Jan. 5, 1935, the son of the late William and Amanda (Yell) Tibbetts.

Educated in the Haverhill school system, Tibbetts graduated from the former Haverhill Trade School in 1953.

He was employed for over 20 years at General Electric in Lynn as a foreman and retired in 1993.

Tibbetts was a member of the Newton Fish and Game Club, and enjoyed target shooting and motorcycle riding. He battled cancer not just once but twice, a testimony to the strong character he was.

He was the husband of the late Sharon L. (French) Tibbetts who died in 2017 and his survivors include a son, Robert Tibbetts and his wife Nicola of Newton, N.H., three daughters, Cheryl Waterman and her significant other Dan Nercessian of Methuen, Kim Kelly of Danville, N.H., Sharon Edmondson and her husband Andy of Norfolk, Va., and their children Scott Lakin and Aaron Edmondson, five grandchildren, Erika J. Waterman of Thailand, Joshua R. Waterman of Derry, N.H., Bobby Tibbetts, his wife Kati and their son Ryder of Florida, Leonie Freemantle and her husband Ford of Newton, N.H., William Tibbetts of Newton, N.H., and two great-granddaughters. He also leaves behind his beloved Pugs, Cooper and Molly as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Friday, March 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. His funeral service and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Robert Tibbetts for a memorial bench at the Country Pond Fish and Game Club.
