UPDATED: Beatrice M. (Denzin) Cox, 91

Beatrice M. Cox, 91, longtime Groveland resident, formerly of Haverhill, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 11.

She was born in Provincetown on July 8, 1926, the daughter of Gordon O. and Dorothy E. (Brown) Denzin. Her education included her graduation from Granby High School in Norfolk, Va., and her study of nursing at Barnard College, New York City. It was while at Barnard that she met her future husband, William D. Cox, who was studying at Columbia University. Bea and Bill were married in Norfolk, Va., on June 20, 1946 and together they eventually returned to Haverhill to raise a family. She was the loving wife of Bill for 54 years until his passing in 2000.

In addition to raising, caring and nurturing her large and loving family, Cox loved playing bridge with her friends, golf, baking for family and friends (especially her much anticipated Christmas cookies), traveling the world with her husband and children, shopping and was a voracious reader. She was an avid parishioner for many years of Sacred Hearts Parish, Bradford. Cox will be greatly missed by all who knew or met her.

Her family members include her cherished children Jennifer M. Dalrymple and husband Michael, David W. Cox and wife Paula, the late Joseph L. Cox (2000) and daughter-in-law Ann M. Cox, Alan G. Cox and wife Sandra, William D. Cox, Jr. and partner Joel Gagnon, John E. Cox and wife Grace, and, Stephen A. Cox and wife Melissa; adored grandchildren Scott Dalrymple, Patrick Dalrymple and wife Kellian, Monica Barbieri and husband Michael, Andrew Cox and wife Christina, Jonathan Cox, Matthew Cox and wife Tiffany, Timothy Cox, Elizabeth Cox, Jacqueline Cox, John Cox, Olivia Cox and Benjamin Cox; great-grandchildren Patrick, Matthew, and Haley Dalrymple, Madison and Mason Barbieri, Jacob Cox, Brenden, Ellie and Macie Cox; great-great-grandchildren Alyvia and Emma Dalrymple; many treasured nephews and nieces and their families; and, sister of cherished siblings the late Dorothy Knight and Gordon (Sonny) Denzin, Jr.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday morning, March 16, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main St., Bradford from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 S. Main St., Bradford at 12:30 p.m. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Cox’s memory may be made to either the Sacred Hearts Food Pantry, c/o 48 S.
