Haverhill’s prolonged power outages in the wake of Winter Storm Quinn have delayed the city’s search for a new school superintendent.
This week, Salem, Mass.-based candidate Margaret Marotta Smith was the only finalist able to meet with members of the community and School Committee for a public interview. The other two finalists, Haverhill’s Assistant Superintendent Jared Fulgoni and Boston’s Dr. Anthony Pope, found their interviews delayed as schools remained closed Thursday and Friday.
Fulgoni and Pope will have their chance to interview with the School Committee on March 22 during a meeting at City Hall.
Other details about public meet and greets will be announced at a later date.
Marotta Smith, Fulgoni and Pope are interviewing to succeed outgoing superintendent James F. Scully, who retires at the end of the school year following an eight-year tenure as city education chief.
