Northern Essex golfers are getting ready to tee off after a 19-year hiatus, the community college announced Monday.

NECC Director of Athletics Dan Blair appointed Mike Dube head golf coach of the Knights program, which resumes competition in the spring of 2019.

Dube comes to the college from the Atkinson Resort & Country Club, where he has served as an assistant pro since 2015. He also coaches Timberlane Regional High School’s boys varsity golf program.

“I’m pleased and excited to welcome Mike to the NECC athletic department and our larger community,” Blair said. “His experiences on the golf course and his local connections will help our program thrive. I look forward to seeing where he can lead our reestablished golf program.”

This summer, Dube will work to recruit a team that will compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Region XXI for the first time since 2000.
