A $500 reward is being offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of a man who stole a Mercedes-Benz SUV last Monday afternoon on Main Street in Haverhill.

The 2015 black Mercedes-Benz GL450 was taken from in front of American Grocery, 426 Main St., between Sixth and Seventh Avenues. The vehicle was recovered two days later in on Brown Street in Methuen. It had been damaged inside and personal possessions, such as Ray-Ban sunglasses and bank statements, were missing.

American Grocery’s surveillance video captured the incident. Video, seen at WHAV.net, shows a light-skinned man, dressed in a red and black coat with red hood or hat and black pants, walking across Main Street toward the car.

The camera system at the recently renovated convenience store has been credited with helping to solve other neighborhood crimes, including a robbery at another convenience store and the theft of a snow blower.

Anyone who has information is asked to contact Detective Rick Welch at 978-373-1212.
