Mary R. (DiBlasi) Whitney, 85, Worked for Victor Coffee Co.

Mary R. (DiBlasi) Whitney, 85, the wife of the late William F. Whitney, passed away Feb. 28 at High Pointe Hospice with her loving family by her side.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late John and Elvira (Popuolo) DiBlasi. She was raised and educated in Boston and was a graduate of South Boston High School. Whitney met her husband William while working at the Victor Coffee Company in 1951 and married soon after. She lived in Groveland for over 50 years and raised her family there. A devoted wife and mother, Whitney loved to entertain for the holidays. She was a fabulous cook and was well known with family and friends for her “Basta.” She enjoyed crocheting and playing Bingo. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Whitney is survived by her children, Robert W. Whitney and his wife Sandra of Kingston, N.H., John F. Whitney of Marlborough, William F. Whitney and his wife Sonya of Seabrook, N.H., Nelson J. Whitney and his wife Anna of Jay, Maine, Vera E. DiFalco and her husband Greg of Newton, N.H., siblings, John DiBlasi and his wife Gloria of Middleboro, Nelson DiBlasi and his wife Diane of Quincy, Salvatore DiBlasi and his wife Katherine of Stoughton, Josephine Dellapiana of Braintreem Lucille Dunn of Stoneham, Diane Snell and her husband Robert of Arlington, eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband William, she was predeceased by her brother Charles DiBlasi, sisters Rose Fondanova and Nancy Armstrong.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, March 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Main Street, Groveland.
