Esther L. (Kelley) Baker, 96, Worked at Casey Paper

Esther L. (Kelley) Baker, 96, passed away Feb. 28 at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill with her loving family by her side.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Garfield “Guy” F. Kelley and Alice (Berry) Kelley. Raised and educated in Haverhill, she was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1940. Baker was employed as a retail clerk for many years at various businesses in the Merrimack Valley area, including Hannah’s Market, Blake’s Pharmacy, Pentucket Shoe Store, Casey Paper and Hyman’s of Newburyport. She enjoyed rug braiding, gardening and canning her own vegetables. She always enjoyed a friendly game of cards. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Baker is survived by her children, Alan G. Baker and his wife Linda K. of West Newfield, Maine, Janet R. Baker and Richard Lovett, Jr. of Tuftonboro, N.H., four grandchildren, Kelly Baker MacKinnon, Cody J. Baker and Kitty Lee, Joanna C. Lovett and her husband Thomas Lockitt, Rebecca E. Lovett and her wife Stephanie, seven great-grandchildren, Cooper, Nolan, Callie, Casey, Madeleine, Abigail and Gretchen. She was predeceased by her brother, Alois Kelley, sister June Lowther and her former husband Ray A. Baker.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, March 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Donations may be made in her memory to Nevins Farm MSPCA, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
