Robert J. Caputi, 78, Worked in Quality Control at Gillette

Robert J. Caputi, 78, of Haverhill passed away Feb. 23, at Lawrence General Hospital.

He was born in Haverhill Dec. 17, 1939, son of the late Ferdinando and Maria Carmela (Iafolla) Caputi. He is predeceased by his son, Robert “Robbie” Caputi.

Caputi was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School and was employed for many years in quality control at Gillette until his retirement more than 25 years ago. He loved all sports, especially football and the Patriots, music, dancing, and going to the beach with his family and friends. He always looked forward to spending Mondays with his step-daughter, Cindy, going to lunch and shopping and he never missed the chance to spend time with his “buddies” at Dunkin Donuts. Robert was a gentle, kind, caring and soft-spoken man. He will be sadly missed by his family and all his friends and especially his long-time friend, Raymond Rosatone.

He was the husband of the late Dianne J. (Shaw) Caputi and is survived by his sister Jean R. Leavitt of Plymouth; step daughter Cynthia J. Smalley and her boyfriend, Phil Jorge of Haverhill; nephew Brian R. Leavitt, wife Michelle and their daughter, Emma Grace of Plymouth; cousins Eda Lupi of Haverhill and Romeo Lupi of New Hampshire.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation Thursday, March 1, from 5 to 8 p.m., at H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St. Haverhill. His funeral takes place Friday, March 2, beginning at 9 a.m., at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in All Saints Church, Bellevue Ave. Haverhill. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Haverhill.
