Robert F. MacAllister, 81, Mechanic

Robert F. MacAllister, 81, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

He was born on August 12, 1936, the son of the late Burton and Helen (Jorgensen) MacAllister.

Educated in the Arlington school system, MacAllister served first in the United States Marine Reserves then in the United States Army during the Korean War until being honorably discharged.

For over 40 years he was employed as a Heavy Equipment mechanic/operator for the former Merrimack Paving and Tri Mount Paving until his retirement in the early 2000s. He was a member of the AMVETS and enjoyed tinkering and working with his hands. He was always out in his garage trying to fix something (whether it was broken or not).

MacAllister enjoyed traveling, going across Europe with lifelong friends and spending many summers with his grandchildren on Prince Edward Island. In 2013, he became a great-grandfather to Mackenzie and she lit up his world. He would often carry her picture everywhere he went and would show it to whomever would see it.

His survivors include his wife of 60 years, Veronica (Hyland) MacAllister of Groveland, a son, Robert MacAllister, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Bradford, two brothers, Dana MacAllister and his wife Laura of Windham, N.H., Burt MacAllister and his wife Alice of Wells, Maine, two grandchildren Kim Beaudoin and her husband Eric of Tewksbury, Brian MacAllister and his partner Courtney Phair of Bradford, and a great granddaughter, Mackenzie Beaudoin of Tewksbury.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Tuesday, Feb. 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 So. Main St., Bradford. His graveside service with Military Honors will be private in Riverview Cemetery, Groveland.
