Haverhill Man Arrested by Manchester, N.H. Police Gang Unit During Drug Seizure

A 37-year-old Haverhill man was arrested this week by members of the Manchester, N.H. police gang prevention unit during a motor vehicle stop that led to the seizure of cocaine, marijuana and heroin.

Steven Torres was driving with Elvis Rodriguez, 39, of Manchester, in the passenger seat when he was pulled over Monday night for failing to use a turn signal.

When officers approached the SUV, they noticed Rodriguez, who is on probation, reach into his pants. When Rodriguez exited the vehicle, officers discovered a small bag of heroin on the front passenger side floorboard.

They also found heroin, cocaine and marijuana stuffed into Rodriguez’s pants. Five hundred fifty dollars in cash was also recovered.

Torres was arrested without incident and charged with transporting drugs. He was scheduled to appear in a Manchester court this week.

Rodriguez, who struggled with officers as he was being placed into custody, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled drug, resisting arrest and possession of less than three-quarters of an ounce of marijuana.
