Members of the community can meet and mingle with the three Haverhill superintendent candidates chosen as finalists to succeed James F. Scully in a series of sessions the first week of March.

The hour-long meet and greet sessions take place in the evenings after each candidate has toured Haverhill and its schools. Locations for each candidate’s meet and greet will be announced at a later date.

Salem Public Schools Assistant Superintendent Margaret Marotta-Smith is up first, hosting a community meet and greet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6. Haverhill’s assistant superintendent Jared Fulgoni will field questions at the same time on Wednesday, March 7, followed by Dr. Anthony Pope, Boston’s instructional superintendent, on Thursday, March 8.

Marotta-Smith, Fulgoni and Pope will be interviewed by the School Committee at 7 p.m. on the day of their visit to Haverhill. Members of the Committee are scheduled to visit the finalists’ districts to conduct focus groups during the last week of February.

Last week, the final candidates were chosen by an 18-member search advisory board from a pool of 25 applicants. Michael Gilbert, field director for the Massachusetts Association of School Committees, which is assisting in the search, said other candidates came from Maine, Connecticut, North Carolina, Kentucky and Florida.
