Mary D. Noyes, 89, Worked at Howard Johnson and Mal’s

Mary D. Noyes, 89, born Oct. 18, 1928 and raised in Haverhill, passed away Feb. 7.

She was the daughter of the late David Noonan and Delia (Lavalley).  She was a graduate of Haverhill High School and worked at various restaurants, Howard Johnson and Mal’s Dept. store. She also employed at the IRS before losing her sight. After losing her sight, she went to Northern Essex College to continue to get her degree although it was a great challenge. Noyes was very active in the Blind Guild and was the coordinator for bringing in various speakers to the group .She also loved to read although blind since 1986 she was always listening to books on tape and kept up with current events.

She leaves her daughter Carlene (Penney) DeMaris and her husband John, of Bradford; granddaughter, Stacey A. Guptill of Plaistow, N.H.; grandsons, Tim Egan and Joshua Noyes of Haverhill; sister, Kitty Moore and husband Richard of Gloucester, Virg., and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Carl R. Noyes who passed 1985, son David C. Noyes who passed away 2013 and brothers David Noonan and Frederick Noonan.

The family thanks the staff at Wingate Nursing home for the great care that she received, especially Compassus Hospice Care, Rita with the daily care and Maureen.

Funeral services are private. Arrangements are by Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill.
